If you want to truly experience the magic and antiquity of Greece and the Marathon, this is the choice for you. You'll be headquartered in the Aegean resort community of Vouliagmeni. Daily runs and clinics with Jeff Galloway. Lots of sightseeing, guided tours and Apostolos' superb runner support at the Marathon.

Minimal Support Package

We realize that some runners prefer to be more independent and would like to create their own travel program. With that in mind, we have created a minimal support package for your first 4 days/3 nights in Athens. You can then add to it to design your own special vacation.

11 Day / 10 Night Tour Package

Here's what you get:

DAY 1 (November 5)

  • Travel to Athens from your home city.


DAY 2 (November 6)

  • Arrival in Athens. Travel by motor coach to the Hotel Armonia in the Agean resort town of Vouliagmeni. Airport transfers are provided for you if you are arriving Nov. 6th between 10am and 7pm. We will be happy to arrange for a private taxi/driver to meet you at the airport and bring you to the hotel if you are outside our normal arrival times. The rate for the private taxi and driver is $60 per taxi. Departure transfers are also provided from 3:30am until 12pm on Nov. 15.

  • In the afternoon, an optional light thirty-minute run to loosen up, followed by staff introductions and orientation. Beverages and hors-d'oeuvres served.


DAY 3 (November 7)

  • 7:30 am. The day begins with an early morning 30-minute run followed by a buffet breakfast (included).
  • 8:30 am. City tour of Athens and the Acropolis.
  • Lunch on your own in one of the sidewalk cafes in the Plaka. Our guide will escort you.
  • Shopping opportunity in the Plaka.
  • 5:00 pm. Return to our hotel.
  • Evening free.


DAY 4 (November 8)

  • 8:30 am: Buffet breakfast, but no early run.
  • Morning: leave for Sounion - Temple of Poseidon
    The present temple was built about 444 BC. Historically it goes back to 1200 BC as described by Homer's Iliad in the Trojan War.
  • Lunch on your own.
  • 2:00 pm: Race number distribution.
  • 6:00 pm: Pasta Dinner at the hotel.


DAY 5 (November 9)

  • RACE DAY!
  • After a lite breakfast (included), we'll leave for the starting line in plush, chartered buses. All the pre-race details are taken care of so you can save your energy to run the Marathon, not use it up getting there! We'll depart from the hotel at 7:00 AM
  • The Marathon starts at 9:00 am. May the spirit of Pheidippides run with you.
  • Fruit and high-energy snacks for everyone on the bus, at the half way point and at the finish line.
  • After the race, we'll enjoy a gala awards banquet and party at the hotel. A local D. J. and Greek folk dancers will be on hand to set the tone.


DAY 6 (November 10)

  • Sleep late and enjoy a lazy morning. Buffet breakfast (included) at the hotel.
  • Late morning we will visit the Ancient Agora of Athens (next to the Acropolis). We will see the Theseion, the best preserved building of ancient Athens and the Agora Museum.
  • Lunch on your own at one of the Plaka sidewalk cafes.
  • 5:00pm Return to the hotel
  • Free evening to relax, or perhaps enjoy a stroll on the beach.


DAY 7 (November 11)

  • The day begins with an early morning 30-minute run followed by a buffet breakfast (included).
  • Then most of us will depart for a cruise to three Agean Islands-Hydra, Poros and Aegina. Those who chose to skip the cruise can enjoy a day of sightseeing in Athens. (The cruise is optional and not included in the basic tour package. The cost is approximately $145.00 and includes lunch.)
  • Evening free.


DAY 8 (November 12)

  • The day begins with a buffet breakfast (included).
  • Depart at 7:30 AM for a full-day guided tour of fabled Delphi.
  • Lunch in Delphi at a local taverna is included.
  • Later, we'll have dinner at the hotel (included), Running clinic with Jeff Galloway.

DAY 9 (November 13)

  • The day begins with a 30-minute run followed by buffet breakfast (included).
  • Depart at 7:30 AM for a guided tour of Epidavros.
  • We'll have lunch (included) in a local taverna, and then tour Mycenae.
  • Running clinic with Jeff Galloway.
  • We'll return to the hotel for dinner (included).


DAY 10 (November 14)

  • Buffet breakfast (included).
  • We'll spend the day exploring Athens and its famous flea market in the Plaka. Good opportunity for more shopping. Complimentary bus to Athens.
  • Lunch on your own.
  • Dinner at the hotel is included.
  • Free evening to pack for the trip home.


DAY 11 (November 15)

  • Departure from Athens.

Depart U.S.A.: November 5th, 2008.

Arrive in Athens November 6th.

Return date: November 15th, 2008.

His book has some historical information about the origin of the marathon, as well as nutrition, fat-burning, motivation, training programs, avoiding and dealing with aches and pains, and much more. This is a $125.00 value.
