All of our packages include; race entry, entry fee and processing, transportation to and from the Expo, transportation to the start, transportation from the finish back to our hotel, pre-race orientation with review of all details about the race, our own sweep vehicles, our own support station at the half, additional snacks and refreshments at the half and the finish, runner tracking from the start to the finish and a personal photograph outside the stadium.

If you want to truly experience the magic and antiquity of Greece and the Marathon, this is the choice for you. You'll be headquartered in the Aegean resort community of Vouliagmeni. Daily runs by the ocean. Lots of sightseeing, guided tours and Apostolos' superb runner support at the Marathon.

A shorter version of the above, for those who have limited time.

2012 Itinerary:
12 Day / 11 Night Tour Package

DAY 1 (Wednesday, November 7)

• Travel to Athens from your home city.
• Airfare not included
  
  

DAY 2 (Thursday, November 8)

• Arrive in Athens.
• Airport transfers are provided for you if you are arriving November 8th between 10am and 7pm. We will provide busses approximately ever two hours as arrivals require. If you need a different time, our staff at the airport will assist you with a taxi . Taxi fares are approximately 40 Euros (extra cost).
  If you are outside our normal arrival times, we will be happy to arrange for a private taxi/driver to meet you at the airport and bring you to the hotel . The rate for the private taxi and driver is 60 Eurors per taxi..
  
• Staff introductions and orientation. Beverages and hors-d'oeuvres served.

DAY 3 (Friday, November 9)

• 7:30 am. The day begins with an early morning 30-minute run followed by a buffet breakfast (included).
• 8:30 am: City tour of Athens and the Acropolis.
• Lunch on your own in one of the sidewalk cafes in the Plaka. Our guide will escort you.
• Marathon Expo.
• 6:00 pm. Return to our hotel.
  
• Evening free.

DAY 4 (Saturday, November 10)

• Buffet breakfast, but no early run.
• Morning: leave for Sounion, temple of Posseidon. It dates back to 1,200 BC as described in Homer's Iliad in the Trojan wars.
• Lunch on your own.
• 3:00 p.m. Race day orientation, followed by questions and answers
• 6:00 p.m. Pasta Dinner at the hotel.

DAY 5 (Sunday, November 11)

• RACE DAY!
• After a lite breakfast (included), we'll leave for the starting line in plush, chartered buses. All the pre-race details are taken care of so you can save your energy to run the Marathon, not use it up getting there! We'll depart from the hotel at 7:00 AM
• The Marathon starts at 9:00 am. May the spirit of Pheidippides run with you.
• We provide our own sweep vehicle and track each of our runners
• We also provide our own aid station at the half and at the finish.
• After the race, we'll enjoy a gala awards banquet and party at the hotel. A local D. J. and Greek folk dancers will be on hand to set the tone.
  
  

DAY 6 (Monday, November 12)

• Sleep late and enjoy a lazy morning. Buffet breakfast (included) at the hotel.
• Late morning we will visit the Ancient Agora of Athens (next to the Acropolis). We will see the Theseion, the best preserved building of ancient Athens and the Agora Museum.
• Lunch on your own at one of the Plaka sidewalk cafes.
• 5:00pm Return to the hotel
• Free evening to relax, or perhaps enjoy a stroll on the beach.

DAY 7 (Tuesday, November 13)

• Buffet breakfast (included).
• Then most of us will depart for a cruise to three Agean Islands-Hydra, Poros and Aegina. Those who chose to skip the cruise can enjoy a day of sightseeing in Athens. (The cruise is optional and not included in the basic tour package. The cost is approximately $160.00 and includes lunch.)
• Evening is free. Pack for the 2 day overnight activities that begin tomorrow morning. (A light overnight bag is all that is needed and a jacket.)
  
  Note: For the 12 day tour, on the nights we will stay at Olympia ( Nov. 14-15 ) you can check out from our hotel in Athens and store your extra luggage with the hotel for no charge. Or you can leave your things in your room and not check out, for a minimum charge of 85 Euros. This would be paid direct to the hotel on arrival.
  

DAY 8 (Wednesday, November 14)

• The day begins with a buffet breakfast (included).
• Depart at 7:30 AM for a full-day guided tour of fabled Delphi.
• We will have a late lunch in Delphi at a local taverna.
• After lunch, we will depart for ancient Olympia, which is an approximate 3 hour ride.
• Evening is free.
  
  

DAY 9 (Thursday, November 15)

• The day begins with a 30-minute run followed by buffet breakfast (included).
• We will visit the ancient city of Olympia, the birth place of the first Olympics 776 B. C. We can run the ancient stadium and visit its magnificent museum with many classical statues and see the Helmet of Militiades, the Athenian General of the Battle of Marathon. Olympia is also the location of the lighting of the Olympic Flame.
• Evening is free.

DAY 10 (Friday, November 16)

• Buffet breakfast (included).  
• Depart from ancient Olympia at 7:30 AM for a tour of Epidavros, famous for its theatre with remarkable acoustics.
• We'll have lunch (included) in a local taverna, and then tour Mycenae, and visit the archeological and tomb of Agamemnon, the King who fought in the Battle of Troy.
• We'll return to our hotel in Athens for dinner (included).

DAY 11 (Saturday, November 17)

• Buffet breakfast (included).
• We'll spend the day exploring Athens and its famous flea market in the Plaka. Good opportunity for more shopping. Complimentary bus to Athens.
• Lunch on your own.
• Dinner at the hotel is included.
• Free evening to pack for the trip home.
  

DAY 12 (Sunday, November 18)

• Departure from Athens.
• Departure transfers are provided from 3:30 AM until 3:00 PM, November 18th. If you need a different time, our staff at the hotel will assist you with a taxi. Taxi fares are approximately 40 Euros (extra cost).

Depart U.S.A.: November 7th, 2012.

Arrive in Athens November 8th.

Return date: November 18th, 2012.
