If you want to truly experience the magic and antiquity of Greece and the Marathon, this is the choice for you. You’ll be headquartered in the Aegean resort community of Vouliagmeni. Daily runs by the ocean. Lots of sightseeing, guided tours and Apostolos’superb runner support at the Marathon.

12 Day Tour Itinerary Below (2024)
  • Day 1
    (Wednesday, November 6)
    Travel to Athens from your home city.
    Airfare not included
  • DAY 2
    (Thursday, November 7)
    Arrive in Athens. Our staff will meet arrivals on Nov 7th, 10am through 7pm and provide hotel transfers. If you are arriving outside of those times you will need to take a taxi at an extra cost (40 to 45 euros.
    After midnight 15 euros extra. Contact us for more details. )

  • DAY 3
    (Friday, November 8)
    7:00 am. The day begins with an early morning 30-minute run followed by a buffet breakfast (included).
    8:30 am: City tour of Athens and the Acropolis.
    Lunch on your own in one of the sidewalk cafes in the Plaka. Our guide will escort you.
    Marathon Expo.
    6:00 pm. Return to our hotel.
    Evening free.
  • DAY 4
    (Saturday, November 9)
    Buffet breakfast, but no early run.
    Morning: leave for Sounion, temple of Posseidon. It dates back to 1,200 BC as described in Homer’s Iliad in the Trojan wars.
    Lunch on your own.
    3:00 p.m. Race day orientation, followed by questions and answers
    6:00 p.m. Pasta Dinner at the hotel.
  • DAY 5
    (Sunday, November 10)
    RACE DAY!
    After a lite breakfast (included), we’ll leave for the starting line in plush, chartered buses. All the pre-race details are taken care of so you can save your energy to run the Marathon, not use it up getting there!
    We’ll depart from the hotel at 6:00 AM
    The Marathon starts at 9:00 am.
    We also provide our own aid station at the half and at the finish.
    After the race, we’ll enjoy a gala awards banquet and party at the hotel. A local D. J. and Greek folk dancers will be on hand to set the tone.
  • DAY 6
    (Monday, November 11)
    Sleep late and enjoy a lazy morning. Buffet breakfast (included) at the hotel.
    Late morning we will visit the Ancient Agora of Athens (next to the Acropolis). We will see the Theseion, the best preserved building of ancient Athens and the Agora Museum.
    Lunch on your own at one of the Plaka sidewalk cafes.
    5:00pm Return to the hotel
    Free evening to relax, or perhaps enjoy a stroll on the beach.
  • DAY 7
    (Tuesday, November 12)
    Buffet breakfast (included).
    6:45 am: Then most of us will depart for a cruise to three Agean Islands-Hydra, Poros and Aegina. Those who chose to skip the cruise can enjoy a day of sightseeing in Athens. (The cruise is optional and not included in the basic tour package.)
    Details for Optional One Day, Three Island Cruise:
    This optional 3 island tour has three ports of call: Hydra, a picturesque Aegean harbor unspoiled by motor vehicle. Poros, with its narrow streets, waterfront cafes, taverns and shops. Aegina, famous for its temples from the Classical Period. Lunch is included. Price is $170.00 USD (transportation to and from the port is included.)
    Evening is free. Pack for the 2 day overnight activities that begin tomorrow morning. (A light overnight bag is all that is needed and a jacket.) Note: For the 12 day tour, on the nights we will stay at Olympia ( Nov. 13-14) you can check out from our hotel in Athens and store your extra luggage with the hotel for no charge. Or you can leave your things in your room and not check out, for a total minimum charge of 100 Euros. This would be paid direct to the hotel on arrival.
  • DAY 8
    (Wednesday, November 13)
    The day begins with a buffet breakfast (included).
    Depart at 7:30 AM for a full-day guided tour of fabled Delphi. (Delphi the temple of Apollo, site of the Oracle where mortals communicated with the gods.)
    We will have a late lunch in Delphi at a local taverna (included).
    After lunch, we will depart for ancient Olympia, which is an approximate 3 hour ride.
    Dinner at the hotel included. Evening is free.
  • DAY 9
    (Thursday, November 14)
    The day begins with a 30-minute run followed by buffet breakfast (included).
    We will visit the ancient city of Olympia, the birth place of the first Olympics 776 B. C. We can run the ancient stadium and visit its magnificent museum with many classical statues and see the Helmet of Militiades, the Athenian General of the Battle of Marathon. Olympia is also the location of the lighting of the Olympic Flame.
    Evening is free.
  • DAY 10
    (Friday, November 15)
    Buffet breakfast (included).
    Depart from ancient Olympia at 7:30 AM.
    Tour Mycenae, we will visit the archeological site and tomb of King Agamemnon,  who fought in the Battle of Troy.
    We’ll have lunch in a local taverna. (included)
    Afternoon, tour of Epidavros, famous for its theatre with remarkable acoustics.
    Evening, return to our hotel in Athens for dinner (included).
  • DAY 11
    (Saturday, November 16)
    Buffet breakfast (included).
    9:30 am: We’ll spend the day exploring Athens and its famous flea market in the Plaka. Good opportunity for more shopping. Complimentary bus to Athens.
    Lunch on your own.
    Dinner at the hotel is included.
    Free evening to pack for the trip home.
  • DAY 12
    (Sunday, November 17)
    Departure from Athens. Transfers to airport are NOT included, our staff will help in making arrangements with our private taxi service.

  • For our 6-day and 12-day packagesWe use The Amarilia Hotel, located in the most popular suburb of Athens, Vouliagmeni (The Greek Riviera), a 20-30 minute drive from downtown Athens. It is situated by the sea and the environment is quiet and relaxed. It is a 4 star hotel with all of the amenities; including full bath, television, and wireless internet access. As part of our package, we provide transportation to all of the activities in our private buses. You will not need to use any public transportation.
  • Depart your home city (Nov 6th if you are traveling from the U.S. or Canada)ARRIVE in Athens November 7th, between 10 am and 7 pm. Check the time differences from your home city to Athens.

    We include them in everything (except running).
    On race day we take them to the stadium ( The Finish ) with our staff.
